- FoodReel is local-first; an account is optional unless a feature says otherwise.

FoodReel ("we," "us," or "our") provides the FoodReel mobile application, website, and related services. This policy explains the information we process, why we use it, and the choices available to you.
Information we process
- Your email address and authentication session when you choose to connect an account.
- Anonymous and authenticated app user identifiers.
- Age, dietary restrictions, disliked foods, goals, and cooking preferences you provide.
- Food logs, points, completion history, card impressions, reminder preferences, and app settings.
- Coach messages and meal photos you explicitly choose to submit for analysis.
- Subscription products, entitlements, purchase status, and technical reliability information.
- Your email address, selected platform, and beta-invitation consent when you ask to join the private beta list.
How we use information
We use information to operate FoodReel, personalize recommendations, calculate progress, answer Coach requests, analyze a meal photo when requested, manage beta invitations and subscriptions, prevent abuse, enforce usage limits, support account continuity, and diagnose service failures. A beta-list email address and selected platform are used only to send a beta invitation if access becomes available for that platform—not for product news or marketing updates.
FoodReel provides general educational information. Coach responses and meal-photo estimates may be inaccurate and are not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
AI features
When live AI features are enabled and you request them, Coach text and relevant profile context may be sent through our API to configured AI providers. A meal photo is sent only after you choose photo analysis and accept the in-app disclosure. Food image-generation providers receive food-oriented text prompts, not your source meal photo.
Service providers
FoodReel uses providers that may include Vercel, Upstash, Vercel Blob, Supabase, RevenueCat, Resend, OpenRouter, Apple, Google, and configured food-image generation providers. They process information as needed to provide their services. FoodReel does not include an advertising SDK and does not sell personal information.
Retention and deletion
We retain information only as needed to operate and secure the service, manage beta access, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Beta-list email addresses, selected platforms, consent records, and request timestamps may be stored in Upstash until an invitation is sent, the beta program closes, or you ask us to remove the request. Shared generated catalog images are not account records and may remain after an account is deleted.
You can edit profile preferences, withdraw meal-photo AI consent, reset FoodReel data, and delete an authenticated FoodReel account from Settings. Account deletion removes linked FoodReel backend data, RevenueCat customer records, the authentication account, and local app data, subject to legal retention requirements.
Deleting a FoodReel account does not cancel a subscription purchased through Apple or Google. Manage or cancel subscriptions through the applicable store.
Your rights and choices
You can use the core app locally, connect or disconnect account sync, change reminders and food preferences, withdraw photo-analysis consent, reset FoodReel data, and request account deletion. See the account deletion guide for the exact steps and what deletion removes.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or obtain a copy of personal information. Contact contact@foodreel.me to make a request or to have your beta-list entry removed from Upstash.
Security and international processing
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including encrypted network transport and platform-secured authentication storage. No service is completely secure. Information may be processed in countries other than where you live, subject to applicable safeguards.
Children
FoodReel is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child provided personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as FoodReel changes. We will update the effective date and provide any notice required by law.
